When growing wings, it's easy to spread misinformation. Most of this information is said with good intentions but it only causes more and more people to give up. So, here are some of the misconceptions about growing wings and their truths, and also some more general information.

Misconceptions and their truth

1. Bird Wings
One of the most common I see nearly daily. Many, if not all people, will choose a birds wings they will try to grow when they start out. It's easy to see why, birds have a very large variety of wings and since feathered wings are the only wings that could be functional, of course you're going to look for a birds wings you like and try to grow those exact wings. Bird DNA has nothing to do with wing growing, our own DNA that already exists is used. So you'll never be able to grow wings of a bird. Your wings are influenced by your hair color, so expect a range of colors similar to that. Also, something that makes me royally cringe is seeing people try and pick up bird habits. You should not be changing your diets to whatever a bird eats, you shouldn't be making bird noises or acting like a bird.

2. Bursting
Bursting is just not a real occurrence. It's physically impossible, for one, and it's also an extremely stupid way to attempt growing wings. A limb can't and won't form underneath your skin. It wouldn't be able to migrate to the correct place and would not allow any room for anything to move and would most likely end up going through some sort of rejection. Wings grow through a similar process as limbs groe in the womb. After your muscles have been developing and get to the point they're ready to basically latch onto the wing, stem cells gather around where the wings will connect and as your shoulder blades begin to change in order for them to connect correctly, the wing forms. Formation begins with hyaline cartilage forming slowly, pushing outwards, and becoming more elongated and eventually all the individual bones harden as it grows outward. As this happens, the muscles will form and grow, nerves and blood vessels develop, etc.

3. Only Using Spells
Most everyone I see says spells are the way to go. It's not. Spells will mainly reinforce the idea in your brain that it is working, but the spell itself will not do much. Biokinesis and subliminals seem to be the best thing so far. I've gotten much more progress doing that then doing spells and waiting, and I believe the same can be said for most people who have progress at this point in time.

4. Length of Time it Takes
Wings take a long time to grow. I have seen many claims for how long it takes. I've seen anywhere from 1 week, to a few months to 10 years. From my experience and seeing others who have progress, it takes about 1.5 to 3 years for full development. Fully developed wings are not fully grown wings. Fully developed means you have full control over movements, feathers (Or at least feather locations) are all correctly developed, bones are complete, all muscles are complete, etc. Wings at this point will be about 1ft-2ft in length each at this point, but depending on your weight, height, body shape, wing shape, and surface area your wings could be anywhere from 17ft in wingspan to 28ft+. Your wingspan will also depend on how your body can handle and support your wings.

5. Superhuman
MANY people want wings in order to be superhuman. Many people believe that by growing wings they will be able to fly extremely fast, gain kinesis type powers, lift right up into the sky, but that isn't the case. Flying will be a hard task requiring a large enough hill or cliff in order to get airborne, then staying airborne is an issue.
